When drains and sewer lines backup its very frustrating. There are different reasons for clogs. Mainline sewer its roots, grease, tampons, in smaller lines like lavatory sinks, tubs and showers its usually hair and soap buildup. In kitchen sinks, mostly it is food from the disposal and grease, these are the most common reasons for backups in a house today.

Many of the countless pipes beneath our Cleveland homes and streets are very old. Though very durable–typically made of cast iron or terra cotta–these structures are not invulnerable to disruption caused by exterior sources. Roots commonly cause clogs which require professional sewer line cleaning from a professional Cleveland sewer line cleaning company, like VIP Plumbing.

If you have a repeating problem or the cable can not get through this is when cameras come into play, however if you just moved in or finished a remodel sometimes its good to check out the line condition. Here are some pictures of some common problems below.

Hydro Jetting

Is the only proven way to return the inner pipe to as close to its original condition as possible. The process will scour the inner walls with between 1000-30000 psi of high pressure water. The Hydro Jetting process will eliminate any build up to flow down the line eliminating the possibility of debris getting caught up and creating another stoppage.

The number one question to most is, how long will the Hydro Jetting last and will this process damage my pipes? First, let’s answer the “how long will it last” question. Basic snaking or rootering could last only a few days or it could last months. As described above, it’s hard to tell and it is not a 100% solution to drain stoppages. Will Hydro Jetting damage my pipes? The simple answer is no, if your piping is in good shape to begin with. Remember, Hydro Jetting is the only proven method of actually clearing the inner walls of your drain piping system. Galvanized piping is the traditional piping used in most houses built before the early 1970′s.

Let’s imagine a pipe being used for sewage and water that’s been in place for 40+ years then let’s add the liquid drain cleaning element (Acid) to the old metal pipe. Needless to say, this is not a good mixture. In most cases, what you end up with is an old rusted pipe that the acid has eaten through. Granted, this isn’t the scenario in all cases, but it sure paints an ugly picture. We may be able to help. If the piping is in decent shape, Hydro Jetting is the most cost effective way of cleaning the drainage piping without going to the expense of demolition or replacement.
